Culinary Exploration
My name is Sarah Díaz and welcome to Culinary Exploration, a portfolio where I showcase my passion for cooking and the culinary arts. I have spent years working in different establishments to learn all that I can about the world of baking and pastry. With every dish that I create, I learn more about myself and the industry as a whole. Join me as I explore the world of food and create new and exciting dishes!
Origins:
After going back and forth with what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, all it took was one batch of cookies to change my career plans.

Let me explain.

One day during my senior year of high school, I was in the kitchen anxiously talking to my mom about a potential career in photojournalism. She looked at me, took a bite out of a one of my freshly made chocolate chip cookies, and asked me a question that would change the course of my life forever:

"Why don't you do this?"
Experience:
I received my associates in Culinary Arts and Science from the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ in the spring of 2022. During my time in school I received an internship at a wonderful bread bakery in Charleston known as Brown's Court bakery. It was there that I truly found a passion for all-things baking! From there, I moved on to Whole Foods in Newport News, VA where I learned more about pastry production on a grocery-store scale. I spent time honing my skills not only as a mixer, but also working closely with other team members as a trainer. Most recently I have found a home with an excellent coffeehouse in Toano, Virginia called Hohl. They specialize in making food to fuel people with wholesome, locally-sourced ingredients. It was there that I discovered my love for Gluten-free and Vegan alternatives in the world of food.
